Hi, I’m Karl, – self confessed music obsessive, – born to teach.
I believe my decades of experience, my passion and enthusiasm, my love of music and of teaching all combine to provide you with a unique music learning experience that is fun, focused, and effective.
In the last few years, rather than performing, my passion has been for teaching, where I draw deeply on more than forty years of experience, as both teacher and musician, to provide a personalised, student-centred, and fun music learning experience.
I’ve been teaching for most of my adult life. For the last fifteen or so years I’ve taught guitar and the hugely popular ‘Band Lab’ classes at the annual Summersong Music Camp, where I have also led workshops in a capella singing and Irish ‘mouth-music’.
As well as tutoring private students, I am currently teaching three levels of guitar classes, plus a music theory class, at Byron Community College. I also have extensive experience teaching songwriting courses and workshops at Byron Community College, Coast Acoustic Music Association and Loose Acoustic Enterprises.
Click on the Tutoring tab for more on how I can guide your music journey on guitar, in songwriting, music theory and much more.
